Read your P&L attribution
How to read the Attribution page: each strategy P&L split into Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega and cross effects, plus the two breakdowns and the reliability flag.
The Attribution page groups your open positions into strategies and decomposes each group's P&L into the forces that produced it. It refreshes itself every few seconds during market hours; the "updated" chip in the header shows the age of the current read.
The two P&L breakdowns
- Effects Breakdown (the default): see how price, volatility and time contributed to your P&L, including their combined effects.
- Greeks Breakdown: explore contributions from Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega and other Greeks, with detail for each leg.
Switch breakdowns above the table. Hover a column header for a brief explanation, or expand a position to see its legs. Both breakdowns show Residual: the P&L left unexplained.
How to read a decomposed day
- Did the P&L come from the driver you intended? If you sold premium to harvest Theta and the profit came from a Vega crush, you were paid for a risk you didn't mean to take.
- Which single greek is your largest gross exposure, regardless of sign? That's your real risk, whatever the net says.
- How large is Residual compared with the displayed contributions? Review any flagged positions and compare Effects Breakdown with Greeks Breakdown.
How exact the split is depends on what you hold
Attribution estimates the contributions to P&L. Its reliability depends on the position and the available price history.
Complex positions can have more unexplained P&L. Review Residual alongside the individual contributions.
Missing history, quote quality and changes to a position can affect the breakdown. Check notices and the recorded period before comparing figures.
The chart, the extras and the flags
- Click any group row to select it, and the chart below unrolls its attribution as a cumulative time series (or a bar summary), one driver at a time. Click a series chip to hide or show that driver.
- Front IV, RV and IV/RV on each row: the vega-weighted front-leg implied volatility, the underlying's realized volatility over a maturity-matched window, and their ratio (rich when above 1).
- Reliability notices flag positions that need extra care. Compare the two breakdowns and review Residual.
- Manual position linking: if the automatic grouping doesn't match how you think of a position, pick its legs and save them under your own label.
- The CSV button exports the whole table, expanded legs included.
